REMEMBER ME

To the living, I am gone,
To the sorrowful, I will never return,
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.

I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea,
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity,
Remember me.

Remember me in your heart:
Your thoughts, and your memories,
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.

Thoughts

I don't think I've ever met someone who was as cheerful, and always had a smile on her face, and in her voice, in the same way that May did. It was a pleasure to get to know her, initially through the weekly call with the hymn numbers for St. Joseph's, and then later, teaching her the keyboard at her home. She and George were both so kind, welcoming and generous to me and my partner, Lissa. What really struck me was how proud she was of her family, and how much love she had for George, and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren - she delighted in them, and they brought her the joy that made her so special. She was thoughtful and compassionate, noticing and helping others when it was needed in an understated and quiet way. An incredibly special woman - I'm grateful to have known her. Sending love and every wish for comfort to all those who loved her.

My granny, you are the best person I ever had to chance to know. Something that makes me smile is that I know you’ll never be forgotten, by me and so many others. I hope you know you were the one house I made sure to visit every time I was back in Scotland. I’ll miss you forever, But you’ll always be in our hearts and stories. I love you so much xx

Such a wonderful lady - giving so much of her time and prayerfulness to the music ministry by selecting the hymns based on reflecting on the readings for Sunday. She always found a lovely balance of contemporary and traditional hymns so everyone in the parish family felt included. A gentle and kind friend.
